Tiny Box of Terror – Guest judge: Jeff of Horrorscapes!
Create it. Bring it. Let it haunt the lobby.
We’re inviting attendees to design and build their own miniature horror scene, creature, or concept, all contained within a shoebox-sized space.
All entries will be displayed in the hotel lobby throughout the weekend, with winners announced on Sunday.
Where to submit: Info table in the lobby
Entry Requirements
- Each submission must fit within a standard shoebox-sized space or smaller
(approximately 13” x 8” x 5”) - Entries must be self-contained
(no external props, cords, or elements extending beyond the display space) - Must be horror-themed
(all subgenres welcome: spooky, gory, paranormal, campy, psychological, etc.) - All materials must be safe, stable, and non-hazardous
- No open flames
- No liquids that could spill
- No strong odors
- No perishable or biohazard materials
- Entries must be free-standing and durable for display
- Each submission must include:
- Creator name
- Title of the piece
“Limit one entry per person unless otherwise approved.”
What You Can Create
- Mini dioramas
- Creature builds
- Haunted rooms or scenes
- Practical FX setups
- Tiny sets inspired by films or original ideas
- Mixed media creations
If it fits in a shoebox and feels like horror, it belongs here.
Display Information
- All entries will be displayed on a public table in the hotel lobby
- Attendees may view submissions, but not touch
- Please build with transport and public display in mind
Submission & Pickup
- Entries must be submitted by: 1pm at info booth
- Winners will be announced: Sunday 12pm
- All items must be picked up by: Sunday 5pm
- Items not claimed may be discarded or donated
Liability
By submitting, you acknowledge your piece will be displayed in a public space.
Spawn of ScareFest is not responsible for damage, loss, or theft.
Do not submit anything you cannot risk parting with.
Judging Criteria
Each piece will be evaluated based on:
- Creativity & Originality
Unique concept, storytelling, or interpretation - Craftsmanship
Attention to detail, build quality, and execution - Use of Space
How effectively the shoebox constraint is utilized - Impact
Overall emotional response: creepy, disturbing, fun, or memorable
