Spawn of ScareFest Door Decorating Contest
Bring your room to life… just don’t destroy it in the process.
We LOVE seeing what the ScareFam creates, and we want you to go all out with your door designs. To make sure everyone has a great experience (and the hotel still lets us come back next year), please follow the guidelines below.
Approved Materials & Methods
- These are safe for doors and hotel property:
- Low-tack adhesive tape (painter’s tape, masking tape, etc.)
- Removable adhesive strips (Command strips or similar)
- Static cling decorations
- Plastic wrap / cling wrap applied over the door
- Lightweight hanging decorations that do not damage surfaces
- If it removes cleanly without leaving residue or marks, you’re good.
Not Allowed
To protect the hotel property, the following are strictly prohibited:
- Glue of any kind
- Duct tape directly on painted surfaces
- Nails, screws, staples, push pins, or tacks
- Permanent or heavy-duty adhesives
- Paint, markers, or anything that stains
- Glitter, confetti, fake blood, or loose materials that can damage carpet or be difficult to clean
- Drilling, puncturing, or altering the door or surrounding structure in any way
- Attaching items to walls, ceilings, or hotel fixtures
Important Notes
- Doors must remain fully functional (they must open, close, and latch properly at all times)
- Do not block room numbers or hallways
- Nothing may extend into walkways in a way that could create a safety hazard
- Please be respectful of neighboring guests
Damage Policy
- By participating in the door decorating contest, you agree to the following:
- Any damage to hotel property (doors, walls, carpet, fixtures, etc.) will be charged directly to you by the hotel
- Spawn of ScareFest is not responsible for damages caused by decorations
- If you’re unsure about a material, don’t use it
